Work with me

How a consultation works, what it costs, and what I will and won’t do.

I help homeowners in and around Ann Arbor add systems that make their place more productive and less dependent — without remaking the yard first.

How it works

  1. Send a note. Use the form below. Tell me about the place, and tick anything from the systems menu that caught your eye.
  2. Come and see mine, if you like. The systems are running in my yard, and seeing them is better than any photo. Visits are by appointment.
  3. I walk your yard. Sun and shade through the year, where the water goes, the soil, what is already there, and what has been a headache. The first visit is free.
  4. You get a short plan. Which systems fit, where they go, what they cost, and how much of your time they will take each week.
  5. We build it. Your choice: I build it for you, or I show you how and we build it together, so you can keep it running yourself.

What I won’t do

  • Sell you something I haven’t run myself, or can’t explain.
  • Recommend tearing out something that already works.
  • Skip a permit or a licensed trade. Anything that touches electrical or plumbing gets a licensed electrician or plumber, and I will say so up front.

Systems you’re curious about

Anything you added to your list on the systems page is already ticked.

Rough size, sun and shade, slope, what’s there now, what’s been a headache. Whatever you know — “a shady corner lot with a wet patch nobody will touch” is a fine answer.

Got a yard nobody wants to touch?

Shade, a slope, a wet corner, a layout that makes every contractor wince. The awkward ones are the interesting ones — and the answer is rarely to start over.
